Through textbooks that focus on historical material in textbooks of Islamic Religious Education and Characteristics of Class VII Middle School. This study will analyze the development of historical material in the book by using the previous curriculum as a basis. As for the focus of the analysis, namely: analyzing the development of historical material content, analyzing the development of historical material illustrations in historical material; and analyzing the development of the use of language in history material for class VII in the independence curriculum. This study uses a qualitative approach with the method of literature (library research). The data source for this research is the Islamic Religious Education and Moral Education textbooks for grade VII junior high school, the 2021 independent curriculum, published by the Minister of Education and Culture. Data collection is by document study. Data analysis used is content analysis through data reduction, data display, and verification steps. The results of this study indicate that the development of historical material in the independent curriculum has differences in the placement of the material; there are differences in terms of the types of illustrations, the writing of illustration sources, and inaccuracies in the application of illustrations; in the use of language for class VII history material in the revised 2013 curriculum there were more deficiencies compared to class VII history material in the independent curriculum.
