520 |a ABSTRACT This study intends to unpack the issues of mimicry and ambivalence in Agung Bawantara's novel "Virgin: Ketika Keperawanan Dipertanyakan". By implementing the postcolonial theory in its analysis, the writer attempts to answer the two research questions: "In what ways are the concept of mimicry and ambivalence presented in the novel?" and "What might underlie the presentation of mimicry and ambivalence in the text?" Framed by a qualitative approach in the form of a descriptive method, the close reading strategy is applied. Based on the findings and the discussions, it is revealed that the mimicry occurred more than the ambivalence. Mimicry mostly happened because of the existence of the strong influence around the characters. In addition to that, mimicry is categorized into three types: appearance, lifestyle, and camouflage. At the same time, ambivalence seen from the amount of hesitancy experienced by the characters in some certain situations.
