520 | |a This research has attempted to identify the grammatical errors that were mostly made by the students in translating a children story entitled "Little Lhon Dhok" from Indonesian language into English. The respondents are 10 English Department's students of Indonesia University of Education. The researcher used descriptive method as well as qualitative approach. Out of 810 sentences, the researcher found 481 erroneous sentences of all grammatical errors that were made by the students. The two highest amounts of errors are the tenses usage and the inappropriate verbs form. This research also identified students' problems in translating the story by conducting the interview with the students. The problems were: choosing the correct tenses, consistency in using grammar, and choosing the suitable words reminding that the target reader is children. In solving the problems, most of the students used the dictionary to help them solving the problems. | ||
