520 |a This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of STEM-PjBL to improve students' problem solving and communication skills on alternative energy materials. This study used (Quasi Experiment) with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample was conducted in the experimental class, namely MIPA II, totaling 36 students and the control class, namely X MIPA III, totaling 35 students. The sampling technique in this study used the Total Sampling technique. The results showed that the average value of N-Gain problem solving skills in the experimental class was 0.68 in the moderate category while in the control class it was 0.38 in the moderate category. The average N-Gain results of scientific communication skills in the experimental class were 0.63 in the moderate category while in the control class it was 0.32 in the medium category. The results of both indicate an increase in students' problem solving and scientific communication skills on alternative energy material in the experimental class. Thus it can be concluded that the STEM approach in the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model is effective in improving students' problem solving and communication skills on alternative energy material.
