Prawoto S. Purnomo, M.Pd was aimed to figure out methods used in translating expressive dialogues. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The qualitative method is descriptive in that the researcher is interested in the process, meaning and understanding through words. The researcher found 335 expressive dialogues. 109 dialogues translated using communicative, 68 using faithful, 53 using semantic, 30 using literal, 29 using free translation, 25 using word for word, 11 using adaptation and 6 using idiomatic. To sum up, communicative was the method mostly used because communicative method is the most 'reader friendly' translation.
