This issue has been chosen because it can present how the unique symbols are translated. The study has employed a qualitative research design embracing characteristics of a case study. The short story is analyzed using methods of translation proposed by Newmark (1988). It is revealed that the most often used method is Literal Translation. The translator, Michael Nieto Garcia, has chosen this method to preserve the original form and the aesthetic value. Five cases of mistranslation and four inconsistencies are identified from the analysis. It is concluded that the selection of Literal Translation as the main method of translation by the translator is correct. However, the translator must be very careful so that mistranslated words/sentences and inconsistencies can be avoided in the future. | ||
