Description
Summary:Learning media in Teaching and Learning Activities is one of the learning components that has an important role. Teachers are expected to be able to use learning media that are diverse, interactive and in accordance with technological developments to achieve learning objectives. The author conducted a quasi-experimental study to analyze the level of mental map skills of students using virtual reality media, compared to animated video media. The use of the media is in accordance with the characteristics of geography subjects that are dynamic and not just theory, but how it is applied in life more "real". In geography subjects so far, the use of learning media that can package facts or real conditions in the field is still lacking. While the understanding of students in learning must begin with introducing reality or something real. Virtual reality-based learning media is able to achieve the objectives of geography learning for students, namely being able to recognize the region, increase awareness of the surrounding natural conditions and improve the ability to make decisions, determine roles, and know how to treat nature (mental map). Students' mental map skills that increase are influenced by the use of appropriate media and the role of teachers in designing learning. Through the use of virtual reality media, it is hoped that it can become a reference in the current learning process in order to continue to create teaching and learning activities that prioritize interactive, modern, and dynamic aspects. Keywords: virtual reality, mental map, learning media
