This study uses juridical - normative research with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. Collecting data from secondary materials was carried out using literature methods and analyzed using qualitative methods. The result of this research is the legal protection of suspects for violence in the investigation stage must be carried out by maximizing the provisions related to the rights of the suspects which are actually regulated in the Criminal Procedure Code, human rights Law and other laws and regulations. As a form of guarantee for the suspect's legal protection, violations of the suspect's rights in the investigation have also been regulated in Police Chief Regulations by applying disciplinary sanctions, a code of ethics and also penalties for investigators who are proven to have committed violations. Furthermore, prevention of violent practices in investigations must be carried out by maximizing existing laws and regulations. Another form of prevention is by maximizing the supervisory role both from within the National Police itself and from external to the National Police, external supervision can be carried out by the national police commissionand other institutions that focus on upholding human rights and the general public.
