The need for land for these infrastructure projects is increasing along with the series of problems that follow. Disputes over land ownership, community rejection of development plans, and development that passes through conservation areas are some of the problems that often occur in the constraints of land preparation for infrastructure development. The formulations of the problems in this research are how is the legal protection of conservation areas for land acquisition for development in the public interest? and what is the land acquisition mechanism for development in the public interest, especially above conservation areas? This legal research is carried out through a normative juridical approach, which is descriptive analytical in nature and only literature or secondary data is examined. Secondary data in this study were obtained through library research (library research). Public interest development can be carried out on a limited basis with a borrow-to-use permit if it meets the terms and conditions and fulfills the elements of strategic activities as regulated in the law, and carries out development that has a minimal negative impact on the environment and the diversity of plants and animals around it.
