Technological developments continue to encourage most human activities today to be carried out online via the internet in the cyberspace. This fact makes the world realizes the importance of cyber security in responding and dealing with all issues that occur in cyberspace. Personal data is one of the important components in cybersecurity due to its usefulness and confidentiality which can have impact and influence in various vital sectors such as economics, politics, and security. ASEAN is one of the international organizations in the Southeast Asia Region that seeks to integrate its member countries in realizing the personal data protection in the Region. ASEAN's efforts are showed by the establishment of the ASEAN Framework on Personal Data Protection in 2016. This framework creates principles that will later become the basis for ASEAN member countries in creating regulations and policies related to the personal data protection.. In practice, ASEAN tries to improve the protection of personal data in the Southeast Asia Region through the three implementation points mentioned in the framework by exchanging and sharing information; establishing workshops, seminars or other capacity building activities; and arrange Research cooperation in related fields. This study explains what forms of action ASEAN take in implementing the three points of implementation of the ASEAN Framework on Personal Data Protection through various activities and approaches taken by ASEAN to its member countries. This action succeeded in making two ASEAN member countries that previously did not have personal data protection regulations, which is Indonesia and Thailand, to implement laws and regulations related to personal data protection.
