| Summary: | The background of this research explains how the film Hanum & Rangga: Faith & The City represents liberal feminism. Hanum & Rangga is the 6th (six) film adopted from Hanum Salsabiela Rais' novel entitled Faith & The City. Hanum Rais is the daughter of Amien Rais who is a cadre of the National Mandate Party. Hanum & Rangga is an adaptation of the novel by Hanum Salsabiela Rais and Rangga Almahendra entitled Faith & The City. Hanum & Rangga.. Hanum & Rangga : Faith & The City (2018) tells the story of a Muslim husband and wife who live in the United States after the events of 9/11. Hanum's character is a journalist who pursues her dream of becoming a producer on a TV channel. At first, Rangga, Hanum's husband, objected to Hanum's choice to accept the job offer. Hanum tries to balance her role as a journalist and as a wife. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a representation of liberal feminism in the film Hanum & Rangga: Faith & The City. The theory used in this research is John Fiske's Semiotic Theory (Reality Level, Representation Level, and Ideology Level). The research methodology used is a qualitative approach, the type of descriptive research, and the methods of collecting primary and secondary data. The results of the semiotic analysis in this study indicate that there is a representation of liberal feminism that shows Hanum's freedom in choosing her life path, namely in her career and married life. |
