| Summary: | We know that many people have been affected by stroke, not only the elderly or adults, even teenagers have also had strokes. Weakness of the diaphragm, intercostal muscles, and abdominal muscles causes respiratory function to decrease, this decrease often occurs in post-stroke patients. Weakened respiratory function makes aerobic capacity also decrease which causes a lack of ability to carry out physical activities and walk independently (Benjamin et al., 2017). So this study aims to see the effect of aerobic exercise on increasing aerobic capacity in stroke patients. The methods used are literature review data collection, literature retrieval using Google Scholar, Science Direct, and PubMed using certain keywords in the 2016-2021 timeframe. From the results of the literature search, only 5 articles were found that matched the inclusion criteria. The article was assessed for methodological quality using Scimago. Based on the results of a literature review of five articles that have been reviewed, the intervention with aerobic exercise is more successful than ordinary exercise in increasing aerobic capacity with different aerobic capacity measurement parameters, namely using the Exercise Tolerance Test on a bicycle ergonometer. Peak Oxygen by using cycle ergonometer test, symptomlimited graded cycle ergometer test and graded treadmill stress test. |
