| Summary: | The proposed establishment of the ASEAN Defense Industry Collaboration (ADIC) stems from the fact that ASEAN Member States are net buyers of defense and security equipment. In response to this ADIC also seeks to reduce defense imports by ASEAN members from US$25 billion per year to US$12.5 billion. Then ADIC was formed which prioritizes the role of collaboration in joint projects through partnerships, joint ventures and joint production as well as exploring opportunities for economies of scale, besides ADIC is also an effort to promote intra-ASEAN trade in defense products and services provided by the ASEAN defense industry sector, supporting the exhibition. defense trade of ASEAN member countries, as well as improving ASEAN technology and industrial competitiveness in the defense industry. This study aims to determine Indonesia's defense in developing the idea of ADIC cooperation which is examined through the theory of Regionalism, the theory of defense cooperation and the concept of security community. The data collection technique used in this research is through interviews for primary data and literature study for secondary data. The implementation of Indonesia's defense in reducing weapons imports in general has not been realized in ADIC cooperation. Because of ADIC's obstacles in creating a defense industry collaboration, there are significant differences in the defense technology of ASEAN members who experience uneven defense industry production capabilities, and the industrialization of member countries which are still very dependent on developed countries. So that Indonesian Defense does not fully consider ADIC as an aspect of regional defense cooperation, and in the end it goes alone in meeting the needs of military modernization.
