Summary

News about COVID-19 spreads quickly through social media, the information that is spread does not all contain correct information but there is also a lot of "hoax" information. This study aims to determine the relationship between hoax news about COVID-19 and the level of anxiety of elderly family caregivers in Kelurahan Pegangsaan. The method used is descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional approach and analyzed using the Spearman-rho Correlation Test. The population in this study were family caregivers in Kelurahan Pegangsaan with a sample of 90 caregivers taken using a total sampling technique. The Corona Anxiety Scale (CAS) instrument was used to measure hoax news and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) was used to measure anxiety levels. The results of this study indicate that there is a relationship between hoax news and the level of anxiety in family caregivers in the Pegangsaan Village with a p value of 0.000. This research is expected to provide information for family caregivers to seek first about a news to reduce the level of anxiety they feel.
