520 |a The United Nations (UN) encourages the procurement of clean and affordable energy to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and expand access to electricity. Indonesia has wind energy potential of 60,647 MW while the installed capacity is only 82 MW, although this wind energy potential can overcome the constraints of the availability of clean electricity in Indonesia. However, Indonesia's average wind speed for a year is only 2 m/s to 6 m/s, so it is necessary to design blades that are in accordance with natural conditions. This study discusses the performance analysis and structure of the inverse taper blade on horizontal axis wind turbine, to match Indonesia's average wind speed. This thesis research method uses variations in airfoil, TSR design, the ratio of end chord length to base, and the selection of two-point blade elements for linearization of twists on the inverse taper blade. The variation is done by geometric selection and performance selection to choose the best blade using the blade element momentum (BEM) method. The optimal design blades are made with pine wood material (Pinus merkusii) and simulated structure using the finite element method (FEM) in order to determine the level of safety in its use. The results showed that the optimal blades had the largest Cp of 0,486 in TSR 5 with TSR range for Cp above 0,3 of 6,444, and it can be used up to a wind speed of 15 m/s with a FoS of 1,020.
