| Summary: | Smoking behavior is still a favorite for many people, it will not have an impact and can damage health. The factors that trigger the emergence of smoking behavior in adolescents are less supervised by parents, people around them who smoke, peers, the negative impact of the media, and the negative impact of the surrounding environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family and peer functions on smoking behavior in adolescents. This study uses an analytical observational method with a cross sectional approach with purposive sampling technique. The number of samples used was 91 with 10% of the number of drop outs at SMPN 263 Jakarta. This study also used the Chi-Square Test technique with 95% CI. This study used a sample of 46 male and 45 female junior high school students in grades 7 and 8. The results of the study were smoking behavior with family function, p-value 0.627. The results of the study of the relationship smoking behavior with peers p-value <0.001. In conclusion, there is no significant relationship between family function and smoking behavior in adolescents, in contrast to peers and smoking behavior which has a significant relationship. It is recommended for families to communicate well with teenagers, and recommendations for choosing friends. |
