520 |a The fast patrol boat has a high speed so that it creates a big drag. Ship resistance is the most important component in designing a ship. Therefore to reduce the value of the drag on the ship, it is necessary to make changes to the shape of the hull or by adding appendages to the stern of the ship such as interceptor and trim tab. Interceptor and trim tab are two types of hull accessories. In addition, the interceptor and trim tab have a function to adjust the speed which is mounted on the stern of the ship. In this thesis, we will discuss the fluid flow pattern that occurs with the addition of the appendages to the stern of the ship namely the interceptor and trim tab with variations of Froude number 0,3 ; 0,4 ; 0,5 ; and 0,6. To prove the effect of adding appendages to the stern of the ship on the decrease in drag, this analysis uses the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) approach with Maxsurf Advance Modeler and NUMECA Fine Marine software. Based on the result of simulation, it shows that the use of a combination of interceptor and trim tab can reduce the resistance more optimally with the lowest resistance value reaching 800,83 N at Fn 0,3.
