Description
Summary:Elderly is a stage where the ability of the network to repair itself decreases or the network's ability to lose. Gradually maintain structure and function, resulting in tissue resistance to infection or disease. In general, the signs of aging begin to appear at the age of 45 years and cause problems at the age of around 60 years. With age, muscle strength will decrease. Grip strength is the ability to hold and hold objects or objects for a long time is something that is needed every day. Leg muscle strength is basically the ability of the muscles to contract. Decreased muscle strength of the lower extremities can result in sluggishness of movement, short steps, the feet cannot tread strongly and are more prone to wobbling. Factors that affect muscle strength, namely: age, gender, physical activity and comorbidities. The type of research design used is a cross-sectional study with the number of respondents 35 women aged 60-74 years and conducted by observation. The parameters used to find the relationship between grip strength and lower leg strength were handgrip dynamometer and chair to stand test. Based on the results of 35 respondents the value of the most right gripping strength is the normal category with a percentage of 71.4%, the value of the most left gripping strength category is the weak category with a percentage of 54.3% and the most lower leg strength value is the less category with a percentage of 68.6%. After the correlation test, the value of Spearman's rhop correlation coefficient is in the same direction. The conclusion of this study resulted that there was no relationship between grip strength and lower leg strength.
