Summary:Hypertension is a condition in which there is an increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure, which is above 140 mmHg and 90 mmHg, when a person is well-rested/calm. Based on the Profile of the Depok City Health Service in 2017, hypertension ranks first as the most common disease suffered by the 45->75 year age group, which is 35.04%. This study aims to analyze the relationship between fat intake, sodium intake, and physical activity with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly of Bojongsari. This research is an analytic observational with a case-control study that has a sample size of 84 respondents using a simple random sampling method and was carried out in June 2022. The bivariate test results with chi-square showed a relationship between fat intake (p = 0.015; OR = 3.026) and sodium intake (p = 0.002; OR = 4.015) with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. While physical activity (p = 0.059) did not show any relationship with the incidence of hypertension in the elderly. It's hoped that the community will maintain their food intake, especially fat and sodium intake, and continue to exercise to maintain normal blood pressure.
