Effective infection control efforts need the contribution of the ward management function so that it can support nurses to reduce the incidence of infection. The results of the SWOT assessment and analysis conducted in the Cemara I Room showed that the function of the head of the room was still less than optimal in infection prevention and control. Based on the results of observations and interviews in the room, nursing care documents are still not supportive in the implementation of PPI and infection prevention related to the application of the principle of hand washing which is still not optimal. The results of the management function that were perceived by 12 implementing nurses consisting of 5 sub-functions showed (33,3%) of the head of the room did not carry out the planning function. (25%) did not perform the organizing function, (16,7%) did not perform the manpower function, (33,3%) did not carry out the directive function, (25%) did not perform the controlling function. Interventions provided with the application of the principles of standard precautions through education and discussions. The results of the Pre and Post test evaluations showed that the knowledge of nurses had increased by 25%, which means that the perception value increased to reduce the incidence of HAIs. Recommendations to the hospital management in order to improve the implementation of the management function of the head of the ward which is very much needed in the implementation of PPI through supporting facilities and policies.
