Description
Summary:Exclusive breastfeeding is currently still low, this is due to socio-demographic factors such as age, occupation, education, income and parity. In addition, the husband's role is also the cause of the low rate of exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the husband's role and socio-demographic factors with exclusive breastfeeding to generation Y mothers at the Kebon Jeruk District Health Center. This research was conducted in the District Health Center of Kebon Jeruk starting in March-June 2022 using a cross sectional design. The population of this study was 316 with a sample of 191 using purposive sampling technique. Sources of data obtained from primary and secondary data. This study uses a questionnaire for data collection. Data analysis using univariate and bivariate with chi square test. The results showed that 54.5% of mothers did not give exclusive breastfeeding. There is a relationship between husband's role (p=0.003), maternal age (p=0.002), mother's employment status (p=0.002), mother's education level (p=0.026), parity (p=0.020), and BMI (p=0.000) with exclusive breastfeeding. This study concludes that exclusive breastfeeding is related to the role of the husband and social demographics (age, employment status, mother's education level, parity, and BMI). It is necessary to do health promotion for generation Y mothers to increase knowledge about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for babies.
