| Summary: | The song is one of the works that comes from the human thought process which is then realized in the form of a creation that can be heard its beauty in the harmony of the lyrics, notation, and instrument. The creation of a song requires absolute rights, namely copyright to provide legal protection for the creator. The purpose of this research is to find out and understand the forms of responsibility and legal protection for copyright holders for songs from parties who use and carry out commercial activities from copyright holders. The approach method used is a statutory approach and a case approach. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the form of legal protection for copyright holders for songs commercialized by other parties is in the form of registration of creations, granting the right to sue against copyright infringers, and the imposition of sanctions in accordance with the copyright infringement committed. The responsibility of those who use and carry out commercial activities without permission is by paying a sum of money as compensation for the losses suffered and returning the song title that was changed to its original title. It is hoped that through this research, there will be no more cases of copyright infringement and the public will pay more attention to the rules relating to copyright. |
