| Summary: | This study aims to analyze and determine the representation of mothers as single parents in irreplaceable films using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach using Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis, namely denotation, connotation and myth. The data collection technique used in this study was in the form of observing directly the scenes in the film. The result of the research is that the representation of the mother as a single parent in this film is depicted through Aryati's struggle in carrying out dual roles as both mother and father. In denotation, the representation of mothers as single parents is a mother who looks simple and always looks tired, stressed and sad when alone. Meanwhile, in connotation, the representation of a mother as a single parent is a figure who is tough and hardworking for the sake of her children, she also often harbors feelings and the burden of her problems when in front of her children. The last is the representation of the mother as a single parent in the mythical sense, namely, her figure who looks like a superwoman, she can do everything alone easily, never thinks about herself and only cares about her children, works hard, takes care of her three children. |
