Summary

Every consumer has the right to know whether the product consumed is halal or not. As contained in Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee. On the other hand, the government is obliged to provide halal certification for a product. That's why sometimes a problem arises that raises various questions, such as for example whether a product that does not have halal certification means that the product is haram, or what kind of product is required to obtain halal certification. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) is an institution that issues halal fatwas in Indonesia. While in other countries, for example, Singapore, halal fatwas are issued by several institutions, one of which is MUIS (Majlis Ulama Islam Singapore) or the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has identified the halal certification and the MUI has agreed to recognize the validity of the halal certification issued by the institution in Singapore.
