There is a legal loophole where in advertising activities the absence of an advertising law that should be used as a guide has not materialized so that the issue of determining this responsibility must be carried out on a case by case basis depending on the role of each party in the process of making and serving advertisements. To produce an advertisement, it requires the participation of several parties, starting from advertisers, advertising companies, and mass media, where each party can contribute in the process of making advertisements in the mass media. The purpose of this research is to examine the legal protection for consumers related totelevision advertisements that are contrary to public decency and the role of the government related to television advertisements that are contrary to decency. In this study, the normative juridical method was used supported by a statutory approach and used secondary data. the role of the government is related to television advertisements that are contrary to decency. The existence of KPI as aninstitution tasked with supervising broadcasting activities is expected by the public to provide legal certainty in the broadcasting sector. As a representation of the community, KPI is expected to be able to realize the public's desire to obtain broadcast content that can foster education and public knowledge, healthy and useful broadcast content is a measure for KPI in carrying out its functions, duties and authoritie.
