The purpose of this study is the initial design of the punch and die, determine the appropriate material for the punch and die, and determine the effect of cutting clearance on the quality of the piercing process in the manufacture of door components. The piercing process for the manufacture of door components on City Transportation (Angkot) uses an open die set. To determine the effect of cutting clearance on the quality of the piercing process, the author performs a computer simulation using manufacturing simulation software. This writing was carried out with various variations, namely variations in cutting clearance between 0,05 mm/side to 0,3 mm/side and variations in sheet metal material, namely AISI 304, AISI 1006, AISI 1008, AISI 1010, and AISI 1045. From the research that has been done, the punch design has dimensions of 1450,594 mm × 552,594 mm × 67,871 mm and the die has dimensions of 1450,594 mm × 552,594 mm × 57,871 mm, using AISI D2 material, and it is recommended to use a cutting clearance of 0,05 mm or 0,1 mm.
