Summary

Asphyxia neonatorum is one of infant death cause. It can occur because of the low birth weight (LBW) infant. According to WHO 2006, one of the cause of infant death is asphyxia (23%) and low birth weight infant (27%). The research was aimed to search the risk asphyxia for the low weight birth infant with preterm and aterm of gestation age at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto in 2018. The research design was case control with a number of samples of 48 infants, 24 case group and 24 control group. The sample collection technic was purposive sampling, sample taking was by specific criteria. Chi square test result p value= 0.029. Therefore, there is a meaningful relationship between the low birth weight and preterm and aterm gestation to the occurrence of asphyxia neonatorum. Odds ratio (OR) 4,231 with CL 95%,1.10716.167 shows the risk factor of low weight birth infant is 4,231 times to experience asphyxia neonatorum
