| Summary: | Traffic violations are the most common types of violations committed by motorized vehicle drivers, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled drivers. The rapid development of the digital era has made the Indonesian National Police follow developments by launching an electronic fine system called Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE). The application of ETLE has not been fully successful in reducing the number of traffic violations in Polda Metro Jaya area. On that basis, this study raises the issue of how the authority of Polda Metro Jaya is in prosecuting traffic violations after the enactment of the ETLE policy and how effective the enforcement of traffic violations is using the ETLE system in the Polda Metro Jaya area. This research uses a type of juridical-normative research with a qualitative approach. The results of this study indicate that the authority of the Polda Metro Jaya after the enactment of the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement can only carry out the authority to enforce traffic violations other than the types of violations that can be captured by ETLE cameras. The presence of ETLE has not been able to increase public legal compliance with traffic rules, but ETLE has helped the effectiveness and efficiency of officers in the field in terms of regulating and acting on traffic violations. Advice to Polda Metro Jaya to develop the ETLE system so that it can take action on all types of traffic violations and to be more aggressive in implementing ETLE in the Polda Metro Jaya area. |
