| Summary: | Smoking behaviour has increased among adolescents. Many factors cause adolescents to smoke, one of which is the lack of parental attachment and less than optimal self-control. Secure attachment between parents and children, as well as high self-control will prevent adolescents from making negative decisions and actions, one of which is smoking behaviour. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between parental attachment and self-control with adolescent smoking behaviour at Senior High School 54 Jakarta. The type of research is observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is stratified random sampling on a total sample of 236 respondents. The analysis used is univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The results of the Chi Square analysis found that there is a significant relationship between parental attachment and adolescent smoking behaviour and there is a significant relationship between self-control and adolescent smoking behaviour. This research has implications for early detection and health promotion related to parental attachment, self-control, and smoking behaviour. It is recommended to families, especially parents, to establish good communication with adolescents regarding the complaints and feelings they face, so that adolescents can adapt in self-control so as to avoid risky behaviour such as smoking behaviour. |
