Summary

Lately, premarital sexual behavior in adolescents has increased very high. Many adolescents engage in risky sexual behavior based on strong curiosity, influenced by the environment and encouragement from others. Premarital sexual behavior is caused by peer influence, exposure to pornographic media, parental roles, lack of knowledge, romantic status and low self-control. This research was conducted with the aim of looking at the effect of applying rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on self-control in reducing premarital sexual behavior. The method in this study is quasi-experimental and the research design is one group pretest posttest using a non-probability sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The analysis used is univariate and bivariate analysis. The results of the Paired T-test analysis showed that there was an increase in the level of self-control of students after being given an intervention with an average increase of 9.812 and a p-value of 0.000 (p <0.05) and for premarital sexual behavior there was a decrease in action with a p-value of 0.000 ( p<0.05), then it was found that there was a significant effect of applying rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) on self-control in reducing premarital sexual behavior. For this reason, community nurses and counseling teachers should organize counseling and education programs related to premarital sex so that adolescents can avoid and reduce premarital sexual behavior.
