Health services are one of the determinants of a person's health status, and every individual, family, and community, regardless of socioeconomic level, has the right to health protection. To achieve this, the Indonesian government developed a national health insurance system (JKN), which is expected to satisfy the community's basic health needs. However, issues remain in the field about the quality of health services obtained by JKN patients, particularly outpatient services. The purpose of this research is to investigate the association between outpatient payment methods and the quality of health care at a regional public hospital in Jakarta in 2023. This study employs an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional design on 100 outpatients. This study employs an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional design on 100 outpatients. A questionnaire was utilized as the research tool. Data were analyzed using univariate test and bivariate chi square tests with α= 0.05. The findings of the univariate analysis revealed that 65% of patients used the JKN payment system, whereas 35% used fee for services. Patients give high marks to all aspects of service quality. The chi square test results revealed a relationship between the JKN and the fee for services payment method and the responsiveness dimension of outpatient service quality (p = 0.02). This study concluded no relationship between the JKN and fee for services payment method and the quality dimensions of tangibles, reliability, assurance, and empathy, but there is a relationship between the JKN and fee for services payment method and the quality dimension responsiveness.
