The prevalence of pain is still high in patients visiting the emergency department (ED). Pharmacological pain management is preferred, but has adverse side effects with continuous use. The triage system in the ED makes yellow triage patients have to wait 30 minutes or more to get medical action and decisions. Long waiting times and crowded ED conditions are a challenge in itself. Efforts to reduce pain levels with low side effects are non-pharmacological pain management, namely distraction using Virtual Reality (VR) which can cause immersive effects. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of VR content with natural nuances on the pain level of yellow label triage patients in the ED of Pasar Minggu Hospital. Using a quasi-experimental research design with a one group pretest and posttest approach to 35 pain patients in the emergency department with a purposive sampling. Research instruments include respondent characteristic questionnaires and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The collected data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of providing VR content with natural nuances on reducing the pain level of yellow label triage patients in the Emergency Department of Pasar Minggu Hospital (P-Value = 0.000). It is suggested that health service institutions can improve non-pharmacological pain management services by utilizing technological developments for patients in emergency departments.
