KARAKTERISTIK KEKUATAN LELAH (FATIGUE) SAMBUNGAN FRICTION STIR WELDING PADA PADUAN ALUMINIUM 5052 MENGGUNAKAN PENDEKATAN METODE ELEMEN HINGGA

This study aims to examine the effect of load on the prediction of the fatigue life of friction stir welding joints in 5052 aluminium alloy using the finite element method. The design of the specimen for fatigue testing were made using CAD software within to ASTM E466 standard. The fatigue testing s...

The design of the specimen for fatigue testing were made using CAD software within to ASTM E466 standard. The fatigue testing simulation was run on Workbench Ansys. Test specimens in the form of FSW joints on 5052 aluminium alloy were subjected to loading of 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90% of the maximum load, respectively of 800, 960, 1120, 1280, and 1440 N. The simulation results showed that the FSW joints on 5052 aluminium alloy plate with loading of 800 N and 960 N were able to withstand fatigue life up to a minimum of 106 cycles because the safety factor value was more than 1. While for the loads of 1120, 1280, and 1440 N failed to reach that value because of the safety factor reached 0,96; 0,94; and 0,83.
