520 |a A ballast system is a method of adding sea water to the vessel to increase stability. When ballast drainage systems are used, the use of ballast water systems has a negative effect on the environment. Examples of this include the 1980 invasion of zebra shells in the Great Lakes, which resulted in a marine environmental catastrophe and a loss of more than $5 billion (Carlton, 2000), and the 1982 discovery of scabies in the Black Sea. The IMO Coal Water Management Agreement was consequently released in 2004. The study's findings demonstrated that whereas ultraviolet light leaves at least 0.32 bacteria per liter with parameters of 200 l/h, ozone therapy can totally eradicate bacteria at a parameter of 7 mg/l. The purpose of this study is to stop microorganisms from entering the marine environment through ballast water. According to the convention plan, ballast water treatment is required for all vessels. Making a thorough analysis of the different Ballast Water Treatment System, or "BWTS," approaches is the method utilized to choose the system to be employed. The study's findings revealed that the MV.XX had a tonnage of 42,000 DWT. The discussion's findings revealed a 20-meter head loss on the modified, BWTS-equipped 16-meter pump system, which had a 1000 m3/hour pumping capacity. In such cases, the centrifugal ballast pump's capacity can be raised without switching to a different pump.
