520 |a Background: The status of nutritional risk has increased due to modifications to traditional lifestyles which are currently being replaced by sedentary lifestyles. School-age children often engage in sedentary activities such as using computers, smartphones and watching television. If the activity is carried out for a long time, the body will store more energy than it expends, which can lead to obesity or obesity. Being overweight can affect the balance, this occurs due to the relationship between bone thickness, muscle and body fat. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and balance in children aged 7 to 12 years. Method: the research uses a cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlative research design. 130 students of SDN Girijaya 02 Garut aged between 7 to 12 years were used as the research sample. The results of the research were processed using SPSS 27 with the Spearman correlation test with a sig (2-tailed) result of 0.044. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between body mass index and balance in children aged 7 to 12 years. Keywords: Body mass index, balance, obesity
