Summary

Legal protection for consumers in online loan transactions is regulated in the Consumer Protection Act and in the Financial Services Authority Regulations. This rule was created as a form of government concern to protect the rights and obligations of consumers, as well as to provide legal certainty and a sense of security for consumers. But until now there are still many people who do not understand about online loans regarding rights and obligations and related regulations. Online lending is one of the fintech products, namely P2P Lending. Regarding online loans, it refers to two main rules that can be used to protect consumers if problems occur, namely the Consumer Protection Act Number 8 of 1999 and OJK Regulation Number: 77/POJK.01/2016 concerning Information Technology-Based Money Lending Services. The problem experienced by consumers is regarding legal certainty that can be used in the event of a default case committed against a consumer by the provision of online loan provider services.
