520 |a Mergers and acquisitions are one of the corporate actions carried out by companies to maintain survival amidst increasingly tight and competitive business competition. This research is quantitative research which aims to determine the differences in market reactions between before and after the announcement of mergers and acquisitions. This research uses companies that carried out mergers and acquisitions in 2018-2022 as a sample of 46 companies. Sample selection used purposive sampling. The variables used in this research are abnormal returns and trading volume activity. Hypothesis testing in this research uses the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with the IBM SPSS version 29 program. The results of the test show that there is no difference in market reaction between before and after the announcement of mergers and acquisitions, as evidenced by the results of (1) there is no difference in abnormal returns between periods before and after the announcement of the merger and acquisition and (2) there is no difference in trading volume activity between the periods before and after the announcement of the merger and acquisition.
