| Summary: | The phenomenon of long distance marriage (LDM), which involves both partners being in different places for a long time, could trigger various conflicts in relationships, such as infidelity and divorce. The aim of this research is to find out the communication patterns of army married couples in the Cibubur KPAD environment who are undergoing long distance marriages. This research uses the theory of beliefs, attitudes and values. This theory explains the relationship between husband and wife need trust between the two, through good open communication, and as often as possible. The data collection technique used in this research is in-depth interviews using participatory observation methods with five Indonesian army married couples and one family psychology expert. The data analysis technique used in this research consists of three stages, data reduction, data display, and conclusions. The results found that there are several situations that could cause problems in relationships, such as the condition of communication devices, anxiety, egoism, and reduced communication intensity. Each couple develops methods to resolve problems in their relationship. Their communication habits in maintaining household harmony allow them to live side by side peacefully. Couples realize that open and effective communication is needed to achieve a good quality relationship during a long distance marriage. |
