| 520 | |a Early-stage sepsis is characterized by excessive activation of circulating leukocytes, increasing the number of leukocytes exceeding the normal value. Low-dose corticosteroids show significant effects in patients with early-stage sepsis. This study aims to analyze the effect of low-dose corticosteroids on leukocyte differential count of Balb/C mice in early-stage sepsis. This research type is a true experiment with a post-test only control group research design. The subjects in this study were 30 male Balb/C mice. The sample was randomly divided into 3 groups, which is the control group, the sepsis (cecal inoculum induction) group and the sepsis added with methylprednisolone 1,3 mg/day (equals to 50 mg/day in human) group. The results of the Post-Hoc Bonferroni test of the sepsis group against the control group showed significant differences in the differential count of neutrophils (p=0,009), monocytes (p=0,009) and lymphocytes (p=0,003). The results of the Post-Hoc Bonferroni test of the sepsis group against the sepsis added with low-dose corticosteroids group showed significant differences in the monocyte (p=0,009) and lymphocytes (p=0,046), while neutrophils showed no significant differences of differential count (p=0,100). | ||
