Description
Summary:The World Health Organization (WHO) states, globally, approximately 6 percent of babies are born with congenital abnormalities. Congenital abnormalities are a group of various structural or functional disorders that have appeared from birth. One of the congenital abnormalities that are increasing in incidence in Indonesia is cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P). One program that has been designed to prevent congenital abnormalities is the provision of prenatal folic acid supplementation. Therefore, in this study, researchers wanted to determine the relationship between genetic factors and the incidence of CL/P in children of mothers who consumed prenatal folic acid. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between genetic factors and the incidence of CL/P in children of mothers who consume folic acid prenatally in Komunitas Satu Senyum. Type of the research is an analytical observational study with a case-control design. The research sample consisted of 30 people per group and used primary data by collecting data using a google form questionnaire. Data analysis includes univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square statistical test. The results showed that 40% of cases had genetic factors and only 13.3% of the control group had genetic factors (p = 0.083). The results of this study showed that there was no significant relationship between genetic factors in the family and the incidence of CL/P in children of mothers who consumed prenatal folic acid.
