Summary

The purpose of this research is to see the potential for financial distress that is calculated using the modified version of the Altman method and the Zmijewski method. This research was also conducted to see the probability value of financial events in a company. The population in this study were retail trade trade sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) from 2016 to 2019. The sample in this study was selected using a purposive sampling technique of 23 retail trade trade sub-sector companies . The data in this study were processed using Microsoft Excel and E-Views statistical tools. The results of this study indicate that there are 2 companies that are in a gray area and 7 companies that are in financial distress when calculated based on the average Altman value. Meanwhile, if calculated using the Zmijewski method, there are 6 companies that are in financial distress based on the average calculation results of this method.
