Summary: | Objective: to verify the effectiveness of the articulation of traditional and active teaching methods to develop nursing students' knowledge about sepsis. Method: quasi-experimental, cross-sectional, before-after study conducted with 27 nursing students through a sepsis workshop. Five teaching strategies were applied: expository lecture, sepsis parody, team debate, memory game and case study, followed by cognitive testing. After 3 months, there was a new application of the cognitive test. Results: there was an increase in the average of right answers in the immediate post-test with statistical significance (p <0.001). Three months later, the average of correct answers was close to the previous test, but there was no significant relevance (p> 0.05) for knowledge retention. Conclusion: the articulation of traditional and active learning methods lead to the development of knowledge about sepsis. |
