Summary:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model ICARE-U ( Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, Extension and Utility ) terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan komunikasi peserta didik pada materi usaha dan energi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mixed methods dengan desain penelitian sequential explanatory. Subjek penelitian adalah peserta didik SMA Kelas X di kota Padang yang terdiri dari 31 peserta didik. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu soal tes keterampilan berpikir kritis yang terdiri dari 20 butir soal pilihan ganda, soal tes keterampilan komunikasi terdiri dari 4 butir essai terstruktur, pedoman wawancara peserta didik dan lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Analisis keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan komunikasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan N-gain. Hasil wawancara menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan model pembelajaran ICARE-U ( Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, Extension and Utility ) efektif terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan komunikasi peserta didik. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of the ICARE-U (Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, Extension and Utility) model on students' critical thinking skills and communication skills on the subject of effort and energy. The research method used is mixed methods with a sequential explanatory research design. The research subjects were high school students of Class X in the city of Padang which consisted of 31 students. The research instruments used were critical thinking skills test questions consisting of 20 multiple choice questions, communication skills test questions consisting of 4 structured essays, student interview guidelines, and learning implementation observation sheets. Analysis of critical thinking skills and communication skills was carried out using N-gain. The results of the interviews used descriptive analysis. The results showed that the ICARE-U learning model (Introduction, Connection, Application, Reflection, Extension and Utility) was effective to students' critical thinking skills and communication skills.
