The objectives of the study are to classify the category of idiomatic expressions common found in the subtitle, find out the translation procedures which are employed by the translator in translating the idiomatic expressions in the movie subtitle, then figure out how good the translation of the dialogues in the subtitle which have idiomatic expressions is. A qualitative research is used in this study. The descriptive method is employed to define, classify, analyze and describe the available data. The data were categorized based on Hockett's categories of idiomatic expression (1958) namely Substitute, Proper Names, Abbreviation, English Phrasal Compounds, Figures of Speech, Slang Classification. The result of the data analysis show there are 150 idioms found in the subtitle. The highest position of idiomatic expressions which is used in the subtitle is Proper Names (30,7 %) because the contents of the film were about many high class brands of something, and the lowest is Slang (2%). The translation procedures used are those which are proposed by Newmark (1988). There are Literal, Transference, Naturalization, Cultural Equivalent, Modulation, Translation Label, Shift or Transpositions, Reduction and Expansion, Componential Analysis, Paraphrase, and Couplets. Literal procedure is the most frequent procedure used in translating the idiomatic expressions found in the subtitle. It is reasonable because it has something to do with the weaknesses of the translation because from 150 items, the writer had found 29 items which are not translated well by the translator.
