Summary:Harmonious family is the best environment for individuals to be able to shape a healthy personality. Healthy personality and healthy families are necessary in building a healthy society, which in turn is needed in building the nation. In realizing family harmony, communication aspects are very important and need to be considered. Communication brings messages and information that communicators want to convey to communicants both verbally and nonverbally. Non-verbal communication is a means of altering information that does not use words, in other words it can be with gestures, gestures, body, and voice signals, eyes, facial expressions, touch and proximity. This study discusses nonverbal communication in harmonious families. The purpose of this study is to know the form of non-verbal communication in a harmonious family and to know the meaning to be conveyed through non-verbal communication in a harmonious family. The researcher chose the Betawi ethnic family to study because it is related to the stereotype of the Betawi people who are known to have high family values. Betawi ethnicity, which is one of the ethnic groups on the island of Java in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings, such as Tangerang and some areas of West Java bordering the DKI Jakarta area such as Depok, Bekasi and others. This study uses a phenomenological research method with a qualitative approach. The primary data collection method was conducted by interview, while secondary data was obtained from various sources of journal articles, books, theses, and other research documents similar to this research. This study used a qualitative phenomenological method with data collection through interviews. The results of this study are that there are four expressions that are often expressed through non-verbal communication, including: (1) expressions of affection; (2) Appreciation (3) Angry; (4) lying. The four are expressed through prosemics, giving, behavior, touch and emotional / facial expressions. The contribution of this research is the result of research that can be applied by Betawi ethnic families as well as other ethnic groups in order to be able to know and apply non-verbal communication in building a harmonious family.
